What is the difference between Free and Pro?
The Free version includes essential inspection tools: Typography Inspector, Element Spacing & Box Model viewer, PX/REM Unit Converter, and Heading hierarchy outlines.
The Pro License unlocks the Live CSS & HTML Editors, full-page scrolling screenshots with auto-stitching, CSS Scan to Tailwind/SCSS conversion, Component Exporters (React/Vue/Svelte), WCAG Contrast compliance highlights, and custom floating dock themes.
Does Web Dev Kit track my visited websites, URLs, or DOM contents?
Never. Web Dev Kit runs 100% locally inside your browser. We never capture, log, or transmit the websites you browse, page URLs, HTML source code, CSS styles, form inputs, or passwords. All screenshot rendering and styling tools execute directly on your client machine.
What telemetry is collected, and can I turn it off?
To maintain product stability and understand which tools need performance improvements, the extension aggregates anonymous, high-level usage metrics (e.g. tool activation frequency and shortcut triggers). This telemetry never contains website URLs, page data, or personal details.
You have complete control to turn off anonymous telemetry at any time directly inside the extension via Sidepanel → Settings → Account → Privacy & Telemetry.
How many devices can I use my Pro license on?
Each license allows you to activate the extension on up to 5 concurrent devices (for example, your work laptop, home PC, personal laptop, and testing machines). We track device slots using an anonymous, randomly generated device identifier stored locally in your browser — never inspecting hardware serial numbers or personal files.
What happens if I sell my laptop or lose access to a device?
We've got you covered in two ways:
- Self-Serve Deregistration: Simply log into your Web Dev Kit user dashboard, find the "Registered Devices" section, and click "Deregister" next to the old device. This instantly frees up a slot.
- Auto-Expiration: If a device is inactive (not seen online) for more than 90 days, it will automatically expire and release its slot, requiring no manual action from you.
Is this a recurring subscription?
No, we do not charge monthly or yearly recurring fees. Web Dev Kit is offered as a one-time payment. You buy it once, and you get lifetime access to all Pro features of the extension without any future bills.
How do I link the Chrome extension to my account?
First, make sure you have installed the Web Dev Kit Chrome Extension. Next, open the extension in your browser, click Activate Pro (or go to the Account tab in the Sidepanel), and log in with your dashboard email. The extension will automatically validate your license and unlock all Pro features immediately.
